Cynthia is our new construction specialist assisting our construction team in their daily tasks whether it be quoting, planning, or assisting with on-going projects. We sat down with Cynthia to get some insight into who she is and how she sees herself at Bode!
Could you give me a little background on yourself and who you are?
Cynthia: Of course! I grew up in Salem NH and went to high school at Salem High. I would say that I am an outgoing and adventurous person who is always keen to learn new things. I like being a part of a team and a great team-player helping others out anyway I can.
Before joining Bode, what did your day-to-day work consist of?
Cynthia: Before Bode, I was an assistant project manager for a subcontractor. My day to day consisted of working on various commercial construction projects with the main project manager making sure we were on-top of things and meeting deadlines, as well as checking that everything we were doing was accurate. These projects consisted of many things like condominiums, apartments, hospitals, and schools.
What was the reason you got into this profession?
Cynthia: I actually started in the medical field. A friend asked me one day if I wanted to apply for an assistant project manager position. I have always wanted to try new things and get out of my comfort zone, so I did!
I ended up getting hired on the spot after my first interview had finished.
What were some of your proudest career Milestones before joining Bode?
Cynthia: I would have to say getting my high school diploma was a great milestone for me. I was happy to finally take on the world ahead and start my professional career!
I am a certified yoga teacher and a certified reiki practitioner, so those are also two milestones I am very proud of. For those who do not know reiki is the art of healing energy. It promotes stress reduction, relaxation, and ultimately healing.
What would you say are your main strengths?
Cynthia: One of my main strengths would have to be that I am very receptive; I am a sponge for learning, and I love to learn new things and new information.
Another would be my communication skills. I am an excellent communicator and can get my point across without any issues.
My last strengths are that I am always willing to help and be a team player. I help my co-workers, teammates, friends, and family with anything they may need!
Why did you choose Bode?
Cynthia: The reason I chose Bode was because I wanted to stay in construction. Bode has a bustling new construction department that brings fresh ideas and new insights. I really wanted to be a part of a team like that.
I also do not have a lot of experience in the material handling industry, so my desire to learn new things made me want to be a part of Bode even more.
Once I got to my first interview with Bode, I saw how close everyone was and how friendly they were. It really felt like home to me.
What are some of your personal goals now that you are officially part of the Bode team?
Cynthia: I eventually want to become a project manager. That’s my main goal. At Bode, I really want to learn as much as I can and succeed here so that I can build myself up to being an exceptional project manager. I am going to strive to be an asset to my team here at Bode.
A secondary goal of mine is building some great relationships with my co-workers. I am excited to become one of the members to the Bode family!
What are you most excited about now that you are part of Bode?
Cynthia: I’d say I am most excited about learning a new industry, a new field if you will. Material handling and construction together can make a very complex industry. I am excited to learn all about material handling and bringing what I know from the construction side into that area.
I’d also say I am very excited to build some new relationships with Bode’s suppliers, contractors, and partners, as well as building a solid relationship with my new team!
