The Problem
A client in Newington, NH needed a solution to help reclaim floor space occupied by carts full of supplies spread across two floors that were starting to get in the way. They also needed a way to keep their supplies together and organized in an efficient manner while being able to access their supplies all from one area.
The Solution
Our solution was to use their pre-existing vertical space for storage spanning in between the main floor and basement for optimal organization.
For our clients, the challenge was to facilitate the movement of items between different floors, staying organized, and keeping products together. This was accomplished by installing a Rotomat® from Hänel Storage Systems, an automated storage system.
What Are Automated Storage Systems?
Automated storage systems are solutions that provide organized storage for parts, materials, tools, and products. These systems store these various items in a secure storage unit and bring them right to the user. This allows the user to quickly retrieve their items in an ergonomic and easy way allowing for higher productivity, security, and efficiency in the storing/picking process!
The largest benefit to these systems is their ability to maximize vertical space utilization. By making efficient use of the space they occupy they can help clear up floor space for other processes and solutions.
Installation
The installation of this project was far from ordinary, presenting our team with a unique and exciting challenge. To seamlessly link the basement to the first floor, the Rotomat® had to be placed through a pre-made cut-out in the floor above. This approach was essential to overcome the vertical obstacle and establish a smooth inter-floor connection.
Despite the complexity, our team was able to successfully install the multi-level solution and created an efficient way for customers to now go directly to a singular receiving area and retrieve the parts they need, all while reclaiming valuable floor space for the facility!
Customization
Normally with a Rotomat® system, the receiving area is at the bottom of the system. In this case, the client wanted it to be on the second floor, which would require the receiving area to be on the top section of the carousel. We worked with Hänel to customize the Rotomat® to meet this need, making it a one-of-a-kind customized solution that is specific to the client!
In Conclusion
The installation of the Rotomat® exemplifies how automated storage solutions can help utilize space, streamline operations, and increase productivity.
The success of the unique challenges our team faced in this project serves as a testament to our commitment to solving problems to deliver exceptional results!
