An Eversource facility in Waterbury, CT has been closed for years, but is now in the process of re-opening once more. Before this re-opening could be complete, a solution was needed for their stock room that would allow it to operate efficiently 24 hours a day.
Because of this around the clock operation, the stock room would be responsible for providing an abundance of materials during off hours. Therefore, creating a solution that would allow Eversource staff and third-party technicians access only to what they needed, while still maintaining a high level of security and organization.
Our solution was to provide open shelving and drawer compartments for sufficient storage, as well as a counter workspace and two workbenches for staff operating within the storage area.
Wire partitioning was implemented along with two sliding gates providing maximum security and proper access.
Pass-through shelving was then implemented, giving individuals outside the storage area access to specific parts and materials without them needing to enter the storage area itself. This helped in keeping traffic within the storage area low, thereby increasing the security and organization of the materials inside.
We incorporated a man door along with a motorized drop-down gate at the opening to the access counter to maintain a high level of security when not in use.
During this process, we encountered a problem where the motorized gate door needed to be hung to prevent a gradual safety hazard. Our in-house fabrication shop was able to work with our techs to create a custom frame solution that would allow the door to hang above the counter!
Multi-part solutions, or what we call integrated systems, such as these from our suppliers and fabrication team create longevity in the products we supply to our customers.
We would like to give a special shout out to our Sales Rep, JJ Pereira, Project manager, Phil Melendy, Install Technician Coye Phifer, Subcontractor Tom Carpenter and our friends over at Trademark for providing our client with an exceptional solution for their facility’s re-opening.
