Catwalk Access for Distributor
The Situation
An alcohol distributor in Medford, Massachusetts needed to access its second level modular offices, as well as a way for personnel to safely access equipment on the ground floor without walking in front of high-speed doors that have constant forklift traffic.
They required a solution that ultimately increased safety for personnel as well as efficient access of offices and equipment in a specific area of the facility.
The Solution
Bode contacted Wildeck, and together we provided the perfect solution for the facility. A custom Wildeck platform was installed in order to provide the facility with a sturdy structure that would be able to allow personnel the access they needed. This catwalk structure was also fitted with a stairway system that would allow access to and from the platform.
Wildeck platforms and catwalks are designed to create accessibility for users. This accessibility is commonly used for in-plant offices and creating space over obstructions such as dock doors, or in this case high-speed fabric doors. These catwalks additionally create a respectable area for observation of facility operations by giving an elevated vantage point to view the facility.
The uncommon aspect of this specific install was the closed-end of the catwalk. Platforms such as these usually offer connection between two elevated areas, but in this case only one elevated area needed the access path. Thus, the stairway was installed in order to allow the second access point of the catwalk to be on the ground level.
Solutions such as these are highly customizable and able to fit into many different applications. Bode provides the know-how and experience dealing with these work platform applications, while Wildeck provides its years of experience and quality products in order to provide the client with the best solution for their application.
