On May 13th, 2017, athletes from across the state of New Hampshire competed in the Special Olympics in Londonderry, NH at Londonderry High School.
In the years past, Bode Equipment Company has sponsored this event because we think that it is an important event for the community and feel that our donation and sponsorship gives value to the athletes and gives them the recognition they deserve for not only their participation, but accomplishments throughout the training and competing process.
“The mission of SONH is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
The ultimate goal of Special Olympics is to help persons with intellectual disabilities participate as productive and respected members of society at large, by offering them a fair opportunity to develop and demonstrate their skills and talents through sports training and competition, and by increasing the public’s awareness of their capabilities and needs.
Today, SONH strives to create a better world by fostering the acceptance and inclusion of all people. Through the power of sport, 2,994 people with ID in New Hampshire are discovering new strengths and abilities, skills and success. Our athletes find joy, confidence and fulfillment – on the playing field and in life. In their communities and elsewhere, they inspire people to open their hearts to a wider world of human talents and potential.”
Londonderry High School students were active volunteers at the event and overall it was terrific to see the community engagement and relationships formed throughout the process. Congratulations New Hampshire Special Olympic athletes on your performance and dedication!
