Don Moccia is our new General Manager working out of our Marlborough Massachusetts office. We decided to sit down and do an interview with Don to get to know him better and what he is excited for now that he is working at Bode!
Could you give me a little background on yourself and who you are?
Don: I grew up in Mansfield MA and spent most of my time riding dirt bikes and ATVs. I now live in North Attleboro MA where I am married with 6 boys ages from 12- 30. 5 of my boys play hockey so I’m usually at the ice rink. I have been in operations for 30 years w/ responsibilities for up to 9 warehouses, 30 stores, and 120+ people. My career has aloud me to travel throughout the US and meet some amazing people.
Before joining Bode, what did your day-to-day work consist of?
Don: Overseeing daily warehouse and branch operations. Traveling to branches through out New England and striving to exceed all KPIs. Resolving issues and keeping my team safe and supported.
What was the reason you got into this profession?
Don: I got into distribution and operations by accident. I was 20 years old doing autobody work for a dealership in Dedham MA (my dad was the manager) and I was sent to the Mazda warehouse to pick up a part. When I got there, I knew a handful of people that I went to school with, and they were hiring. The job was $2 more an hour and 10 mins from my house. I talked to my dad and he agreed I should give it a shot.
I stayed in this profession because of the people, opportunities to grow, and just liking the whole challenge of fine tuning a warehouse environment. That eventually lead me to Bode where now I can expand on my experiences to help our customers make the best choices for them.
What were some of your proudest career Milestones before joining Bode (personally or professionally)?
Don: Personally, making that step to the director level, being able to have a voice in the executive meetings for my team and the direction we wanted to go.
Professionally, not really a milestone but traveling to struggling warehouses, earning the teams trust, and making their jobs better with positive changes. That gave me a great sense of accomplishment.
What would you say are your main strengths?
Don: Earning trust, building strong teams, developing talent, owning my decisions.
Why did you choose Bode?
Don: Scott Fawcett. His professionalism, team culture, and vision for Bode as a company. The more experience I get in life, the more I value what Scott is doing with Bode. I hope to be a reliable and trusted player on his team for a long time.
What are some of your personal goals now that you are officially part of the Bode team?
Don: I want to get up to speed on the Bode processes and procedures so I can be the one that my team relies on to help them become better and more successful. I want everyone to know I have their back.
What are you most excited about now that you are part of Bode?
Don: Learning and helping Bode exceed customer expectations, and to see where we will be 5 years from now.
